In this day and age it is not common to see a church and cemetery in the middle of a country, surrounded by open fields. However, back in the mid-19th Century, this church would have been close to the prairie families. This beautiful church was erected in 1873 because the Christian Church at Bethel Big Prairie out grew their original log cabin meeting place. The dedication took place on February 2, 1873, people came from miles around and the church was overflowing.

Also, just down the road from the church is also the original one room Bethel Schoolhouse
